'Oh, they printed it, it must be true.'
June, 2018

‘Oh, they printed it, it must be true.’ is a record of the conversations collected during a fieldtrip to Lesvos, Greece in April 2018, during which I joined a group of volunteers for their nightly shifts on the North coast of the island. The zines were initially displayed along side an interactive performance ‘On the Seams of the Sea’ – which was an attempt to make sense of the complex ways we engage in the mediated discourse around what we call the ‘refugee crisis’. A year after these zines were made, I am back on Lesvos again, collecting stories once more.

I am collecting stories about border crossings at sea, I am exploring those spaces where mapping ends and the water starts. Because too much gets lost, out on the water. I am sifting through our archives; trying to make sense of it.

I am looking for whispers, fishing for stories.
